Free Image Rotator and Flipper Online — Rotate and Flip Any Image
A photo taken sideways, a scanned document upside down, or a product image that needs to be mirrored — these are everyday problems that our free online image rotator solves in seconds. Rotate any image by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, flip it horizontally or vertically, or set any custom angle. Works with JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG. No upload, no software, no waiting.
When Do You Need to Rotate or Flip an Image?
- Wrong orientation from camera: Phones and cameras sometimes save images sideways or upside down based on how you held the device
- Scanned documents: Flatbed and phone scanners often produce rotated or skewed scans that need straightening
- Mirror image correction: Front cameras on phones produce mirrored selfies — flip horizontally to get the natural view others see
- Design needs: Rotate text, logos, or graphics to create angled designs and layouts
- Product listings: E-commerce products sometimes need to be shown from specific orientations for consistency across listings
- Social media cropping: Some platforms crop images differently depending on orientation — adjust before uploading
How to Rotate an Image — Step by Step
1
Upload your image
Click Select Image or drag and drop. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG are all supported.
2
Choose your rotation
Click 90 degrees clockwise or counter-clockwise for quick 90-degree increments. Click 180 degrees to flip upside down. Use the custom angle slider for any angle between 0 and 360 degrees.
3
Flip if needed
Click Flip Horizontal to mirror the image left to right. Click Flip Vertical to flip it top to bottom. You can combine rotation and flipping in any order.
4
Select format and quality
Choose JPG, PNG or WebP as output format. Adjust quality for JPG and WebP output.
5
Download
Click Apply and Download to save the rotated image instantly.
Difference Between Rotate and Flip
Rotate
Turns the image around a center point. Rotating 90 degrees clockwise turns a landscape image into portrait orientation. The content remains the same, just viewed from a different angle.
Flip Horizontal
Creates a mirror image — left side becomes right side and vice versa. Text in the image will appear reversed. Useful for correcting selfies or creating mirror-effect designs.
Flip Vertical
Flips the image upside down — top becomes bottom. Different from rotating 180 degrees in that combining both flips is equivalent to a 180-degree rotation.
Does Rotating an Image Reduce Quality?
For 90, 180, and 270 degree rotations and horizontal or vertical flips, the operation is completely lossless for PNG output — every pixel is preserved exactly. For JPG output, there is a very small quality difference only because JPG is inherently a lossy format and re-encoding always involves some recalculation. For custom angles other than 90-degree increments, the image must be resampled which can cause slight softening at the edges — this is the same limitation in any image editing software.
Fix EXIF Orientation Problems Automatically
Modern smartphones store orientation information in the image EXIF data rather than actually rotating the pixels. Most apps read this and display the image correctly, but some platforms ignore EXIF data and show the image in the wrong orientation. By rotating the image in our tool and downloading it, the pixels are physically rearranged and the correct orientation is baked into the file itself — so it displays correctly everywhere, regardless of EXIF support.
