Free Image Converter Online — Convert Between 10+ Image Formats
Different platforms, tools, and workflows require images in different formats. A logo might need to be PNG for web use but JPG for a presentation. A photo shot in HEIC on an iPhone needs to be JPG before you can share it on Windows. Our free online image converter handles all common conversions — JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, ICO and HEIC — instantly in your browser without any upload.
Most Common Image Format Conversions
JPG to PNG
Add transparent background support to a photo. PNG preserves all detail without compression artifacts.
PNG to JPG
Reduce file size for photos that do not need transparency. JPG is much smaller than PNG for photographs.
PNG to WebP
Get 30 percent smaller files with the same quality. WebP supports transparency just like PNG.
JPG to WebP
Modernize your web images. WebP delivers better quality at smaller file sizes than JPG.
HEIC to JPG
Convert iPhone photos to a universally compatible format for sharing on Windows, Android, and web.
WebP to JPG
Some older software does not support WebP. Convert to JPG for maximum compatibility.
JPG to AVIF
AVIF is the newest format with the best compression. Even smaller than WebP with excellent quality.
PNG to ICO
Create favicon files for websites from your logo or icon image.

Which Image Format Should You Use?
JPG / JPEG
The most universal photo format. Supported everywhere. Best for photographs, product images, and any image with many colors. Not suitable for transparent backgrounds. Quality degrades slightly with each save.
PNG
Lossless format that supports full transparency. Best for logos, icons, screenshots, and images with text. Larger file size than JPG for photos, but no quality loss ever.
WebP
Modern Google format. Supports both lossy and lossless compression, and transparency. 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG and PNG. Supported by all modern browsers. The best choice for web images today.
AVIF
Newest format with the best compression ratios — often 50 percent smaller than JPG. Supports HDR, wide color gamut, and transparency. Browser support is growing rapidly and it is the future of web images.
GIF
Only use for short animations. Limited to 256 colors, so poor for photographs. For static images, always use JPG, PNG or WebP instead.
SVG
Vector format — scales to any size without pixelation. Best for logos, icons, and illustrations. Not suitable for photographs.
ICO
Used specifically for favicons — the small icon that appears in browser tabs. Convert your logo to ICO for use as a website favicon.
HEIC
Apple format used on iPhone and iPad cameras. Excellent quality and small size, but poor compatibility outside Apple devices. Convert to JPG for universal sharing.
Does Converting Formats Reduce Quality?
It depends on the conversion:
- PNG to JPG or WebP (lossy): Some quality loss depending on the quality setting. At 90 percent or higher, the difference is invisible to the human eye.
- JPG to PNG: No additional quality loss, but the file will be larger. You cannot recover detail that was already lost when the original JPG was created.
- Anything to PNG: PNG is lossless, so no quality is lost during conversion. File size may increase.
- JPG to WebP: Slight quality difference possible at the same settings, but WebP often looks better at smaller file sizes.
Privacy and Security
All conversions happen entirely in your web browser. Your image files are never sent to any server, never stored anywhere, and never seen by anyone other than you. This makes it completely safe to convert sensitive documents, personal photos, ID cards, or confidential business images. Close the browser tab and all traces of your image are gone.
